European spruce #45

European spruce, Picea abies, collected in 2007.
Yes, it is Randy Knight who helped me collecting this one in Italy. Five years later was the time for serious first styling. Now the tree has way too many branches. It will be left like this for three to four years. Then all the were goes off and the branches will be edited considerably. Then the tree will be wired again. This will have to happen a third time around 2020. Then the tree might go into the final pot in spring of 2021. By summer of 2025 it may be good enough for exhibit and it will look like nobody ever touched it and I found it like that on the mountains. We'll report. Who said that there is a short cut in bonsai? There certainly is not for spruce. No wonder spruce are some of the most expensive bonsai in Japan
